Anjiya Naik
Anjiya Naik is a Hyderabad-based contemporary visual artist whose practice seamlessly bridges Indian architectural heritage, sacred traditions, and environmental spirituality. Holding a Master of Fine Arts in Applied Art and Visual Communication from Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University (JNAFAU), Hyderabad, Naik draws deep thematic inspiration from the sculptural grandiosity of temple architecture—ranging from the iconic gopuras of Dravidian, Nagara, and Vesara styles to the timeless rock-cut structures of the Ellora Caves. His paintings capture the divine interplay between light and stone, translating the golden glow of early morning sunlight on ancient basalt into rich, earthy color palettes and luminous, heavily layered textures. Through his work, Naik explores the sacred cosmic balance between Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, expressing the elemental presence of the divine across nature, humanity, and animal forms. Widely recognized in national and international art circles, Naik has received numerous accolades, including the Excellence Award at the 85th All India Annual Art Exhibition by the Hyderabad Art Society and the Master of Concours award by Concours by Qalaa. His work has been featured in premier platforms such as the India Art Festival, the South Zone Cultural Centre (SZCC) National Art Camp, and high-profile exhibitions alongside celebrated Indian masters at Mumbai’s prestigious Jehangir Art Gallery.
