Dhan Prasad
Dhan Prasad
Born in 1975 in Hyderabad, Dhan Prasad is an acclaimed Indian figurative painter and draftsman. Mentored early in his schooling by the renowned master Thota Vaikuntam, Prasad honed his foundational skills before formally completing his higher art education at the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) College of Fine Arts, Hyderabad.
Prasad’s visual practice centers on vibrant figurative narratives, executed across acrylics on canvas, paper, charcoal, and ink drawings. Known for using rich, direct-from-palette colors, his work explores the lives of spiritual mendicants, yogis, and fortune tellers who dwell around temples and pilgrim sites. Capturing the vivid hues of traditional attire, ornaments, and surroundings, Prasad treats his subjects as sacred figures existing under divine shelter, bringing them to life with striking visual energy.
Over his career, Prasad has been awarded the prestigious National Level Gold Medal from the Camel Art Foundation, alongside international honors including a Diploma from the 8th International Youth Art Exhibition in Finland and a Silver Prize at the 7th Kanagawa Biennial World Children’s Art Exhibition in Japan.
Prasad has exhibited extensively across major art centers in India and abroad. His work has been featured in solo exhibitions at DakshinaChitra and Sri Parvathi Gallery (Chennai), alongside group shows and international fairs at the Lalit Kala Akademi (New Delhi), Chitrakala Parishath (Bangalore), AIFACS, Art Revolution Taiwan, and showcases in Dubai and Kolkata. His paintings are held in prominent private and corporate collections across India and the USA.
