Harsh Wardhan Bhilala
Harsh Wardhan Bhilala is a contemporary fine artist originally from Rajgarh, Madhya Pradesh, currently living and practicing in Indore. He holds both a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) and a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Painting from the Government College of Fine Art, Indore. Rooted in a personal relationship with spirituality formed through lifelong observation and devotion, Bhilala’s practice centers on conceptualizing Devi Maa not as a static visual idol, but as an omnipresent, boundless energy (Shakti) that manifests across daily life, human relationships, and the natural world.
Bhilala’s visual language synthesizes the simplicity and rhythmic structures of Indian folk and tribal traditions with modern mixed-media techniques. He is best known for his signature cut-and-paste method combining canvas and paper with tactile additions like hand-applied bindis, red alta, crescent moons, and lemon garlands. Through bold geometric forms, vibrant palettes, and heavily textured compositions, his work bridges the sacred and the ordinary—translating expressions of divine power into familiar scenes of rural gatherings, architectural landscapes, and shared human affection.
