Born in 1983, Mihir Kayal is an Indian visual artist who completed his B.V.A. in Painting from The Indian College of Arts and Draftsmanship in 2007. Over nearly two decades of active practice, Kayal has established a strong presence both nationally and internationally. His exhibition record spans numerous solo, two-person, and group shows across major cultural hubs, including multi-year features at Studio-74 in California, U.S.A., as well as prestigious Kolkata venues such as the Academy of Fine Arts, Chhobi-O-Ghor Art Gallery, and Altamira Art Gallery.
Kayal’s artistic excellence has been recognized with several awards and accolades, including the Artist Suhas Roy Samman Puraskar (2012), the Emon Chitrakala Samman (2019), and multiple "Best Painting" awards from platforms like Gallery The Golden Wings, Moner Milon, Natraj Art Group, and the Altamira Gallery annual exhibitions. A frequent participant in major state and national exhibitions—such as those organized by the West Bengal State Academy, the Indian Society of Oriental Art, and the All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society (AIFACS) in Delhi—he has also engaged deeply with community art initiatives through various workshops across West Bengal. Today, his artworks are held in private and public collections across Kolkata, Mumbai, and Delhi, as well as internationally in the United States, Brazil, Japan, and Switzerland.
