Piyush Sharma

Piyush Sharma is an Indore-based fine artist whose practice centers on abstract watercolor landscapes that bridge the observational study of nature with India’s ancient visual heritage. Holding degrees in Science and Fine Arts (B.Sc., BFA, MFA), Sharma approaches painting as a process of continuous research and contemplation. Rather than fabricating forms purely from imagination, he roots his abstraction in a deep engagement with the physical landscape, translating nature’s underlying rhythms, structural geometry, and invisible energies onto paper.

A defining element of Sharma’s artistic evolution is his integration of India's sculptural legacy. Drawing inspiration from ancient stone carvings, temple architecture, and symbolic forms, his recent compositions capture weathered textures and spiritual resonance, establishing a dynamic conversation between cultural memory, organic landscape, and modern abstraction.

Throughout a career spanning over two decades, Sharma has showcased his work extensively across India. His exhibition history includes solo showcases at Triveni Kala Sangam (Delhi), Princes Art Passage (Indore), and Jaal Sabhagrah, alongside participation in major curated group exhibitions such as Bharat Bhavan’s Rupankar Varshiki and the RAZA Award exhibition. Beyond traditional gallery spaces, his art is featured in prominent public and private collections, including Mumbai International Airport (Terminal 2), Karnawati (Ahmedabad), and international cultural events such as the World Craft Fair in Barcelona and the Smithsonian Silk Route Folk Festival in Washington.
