Sandeep Aher

Art is not merely a visual expression for me—it is a language of emotion, culture, and humanity."
Sandeep Murlidhar Aher is an accomplished contemporary Indian figurative artist and art educator based in Jalna, Maharashtra. Academic in his foundation, he holds an Art Teacher Diploma (A.T.D.), a Government Diploma in Art (G.D. Art), and the prestigious Art Master (A.M.) qualification. Inspired by the quiet dignity of rural India, tribal heritage, folk traditions, and the nuanced emotional bonds of daily life, Aher has developed a highly distinctive visual narrative. His signature technique blends expressive line work, vibrant color palettes, and symbolic compositions, using ballpoint pen, acrylics, and mixed media on archival Canson paper to capture profound themes of motherhood, love, harmony, and cultural richness.
Aher’s contribution to Indian art has been widely recognized with top honors, including the Gold Medal and First Prize from the Hyderabad Art Society, the Jamini Roy Award, and the Lokmanya Tilak National Art Award. His work has earned prestigious selections at the Maharashtra State Art Exhibition and the Art Society of Mumbai, alongside participation in curated national and international group exhibitions. Recognized as a prominent voice in contemporary figurative art, he is regularly invited as a guest artist to major national art camps and workshops across India, including notable camps in Gwalior, Srinagar, and Pushkar. His celebrated suite of artworks—featuring titles such as Hunger of Life, Mona and Lisa, Gossip Girl, Rest with My Family, His Nurturer, Village Melody, Tribal Harmony, and Waiting—reflects a continuous exploration of human emotion and cultural memory.
Alongside his active studio practice, Sandeep Murlidhar Aher has dedicated over two decades to inspiring the next generation of creative minds through art education.
