Sunil Bambal (b. 1979, Chikhli, Maharashtra) is an Indian contemporary artist whose practice is deeply rooted in the structural, cultural, and spiritual rhythms of rural and urban landscapes. He completed his Diploma in Drawing and Painting with distinction from Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya, Pune, followed by an Art Teacher Diploma from Yashwant Kala Mahavidyalaya, Aurangabad, and a Diploma in Art Education from the prestigious Sir J. J. School of Art, Mumbai. Working across acrylic, watercolor, mixed media, and paper collage on canvas, Bambal thoughtfully incorporates human faces into the architecture of his village landscapes, framing community as the foundational building block of society. His semi-abstract compositions explore diverse themes—from global warming, concrete jungles, and nature to Mahabharata narratives, couples, and spirituality—balancing detail with expressive, harmonious color. Since embarking on his career in 2005, Bambal’s work has been showcased widely across major Indian galleries and global platforms, notably featured in a 2012 American India Foundation benefit auction in Boston alongside works by Pablo Picasso. His paintings are held in prominent private collections internationally, including in the United States, Europe, South Africa, Japan, and the UAE.
